What is energy? How does it change? To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the TV remote control I do a show about energy, using it in a variety of ways to create a home-made remote control from bits and bobs you can easily find around the house. As the remote is assembled we discuss kinetic, chemical, and potential energy, levers, pulleys and friction. The climax is the triumphant turning OFF of the TV.

A 1 hour class practical is available, in which students play with energy themselves, and transmit a message around the room using sticks, balls, string, weights and ingenuity.
